The search is the easy part.

One hundred and ten thousand drivers a month type mot near me. Being found is not your problem. Being bookable at the moment they decide is.

Volumes and cost per click from Ubersuggest, United Kingdom, October 2026. Your own towns will differ, and we will pull yours before we quote anything.

A click nearly doubles in price the moment the word book turns up in it. Every garage in the country is bidding against you for the driver who has already decided. That is the market telling you, in pounds, exactly which part of your website matters. If you are already buying some of these clicks, our ROAS calculator will tell you what an MOT booking has to be worth before the spend makes sense.

And that is the part most garage websites quietly drop.

LEAK ONE

The button that does not dial

We found one on a live garage site that had been there for months. Drivers were tapping it, nothing was happening, and nobody in the office knew. You do not get a complaint about a call that never connected. You just get a quiet phone.

LEAK TWO

One page doing all the work

Traffic arrives across a dozen pages and converts on exactly one of them. Everything else is a dead end with a phone number at the bottom, which asks a driver to do the work of finding the way to book.

LEAK THREE

The enquiry nobody sees until Monday

A form that lands in an inbox checked twice a week is not a booking system. MOT work goes to whoever answers first, so the enquiry now fires a WhatsApp alert the second it is sent.

The MOT booking page built for a DVSA-registered garage in Forest Gate
WHAT WE BUILT

MOT, interim service, full service and tyres, all bookable on the page at any hour, with one tap to call sitting beside it for the driver who would rather talk. A booking taken at ten on a Sunday night is a booking your competitor did not get.

Then there is the other half of the job: the towns.

A workshop in Forest Gate serves drivers across most of East London, but nobody searches for East London. They search for the place they are standing in. So for one alloy wheel specialist we built a page for each of them.

Barking · Canary Wharf · Canning Town · Dagenham · East Ham · Forest Gate · Hackney · Ilford · Leyton · Leytonstone · Manor Park · Plaistow · Romford · Stratford · Upton Park · Walthamstow · Wanstead · West Ham · Woodford

Nineteen towns, nineteen pages, and not one of them is the same page with the name swapped. Each carries the real distance from the workshop, the postcodes it covers and what that area actually brings in. A template with a find-and-replace is worth nothing here, and Google has been able to tell the difference for years.

THE WORK

Two garages, two different problems.

Both in East London. One needed to be found and bookable. The other was already good and looked cheap.

A DVSA-registered MOT centre

FOREST GATE, EAST LONDON

Years of good work, a reputation on the street, and almost nothing online. When a driver in Stratford or Ilford searched for an MOT, the national chains came up and this garage did not.

We built the site around the booking: online slots for MOT and servicing, a working call button, instant alerts on every enquiry, pages for nineteen-plus vehicle makes so a driver knows their car is welcome, and local pages for the surrounding towns. Every call and every enquiry now has a route that ends in a booking.

A mobile alloy wheel specialist

LONDON AND ESSEX

Diamond cut restorations, kerb damage that disappears, lease returns that pass without argument. The customers run BMWs, Audis and Land Rovers on twenty-inch rims, and they were landing on a site that looked like it charged fifty pounds a wheel.

Dark, sharp and built phone-first, because this search happens in a car park thirty seconds after somebody kerbs a wheel. Then the nineteen local pages underneath it, each one genuinely about its own area.

Nineteen area pages, each written separately rather than cloned from a template

Common questions

Why do garages lose bookings even when they rank well?
Because ranking and booking are two different jobs. A driver who finds you still has to be able to book at the moment they decide, which is usually on a phone, often outside opening hours. A site with no online booking, a call button that does not dial, or an enquiry form nobody is watching will lose that driver to the next result down.
Does an independent garage need a page for every town it covers?
Only if each page says something different. Nineteen pages with the town name swapped are worth nothing. Nineteen pages that each name the roads, the distance from the workshop and what that area actually brings in are worth a great deal, because they answer a search the generic page cannot.
How long does a garage website take to build?
A full garage site with online booking, service pages and local pages usually runs to a few weeks. We have turned one round in ten days when there was a fixed date to hit, and we will tell you honestly whether yours is that kind of job before you commit to anything.
